The SARISUN brand travel pillow for airplanes with upgraded neck support is the latest design among the dozens of competing products in the crowded travel neck pillow marketplace. This particular design particularly caters to the challenges of the dreaded “bobble head” syndrome and the pain that is most certain to follow long after the flight is complete. Many among us have probably tried one or more iterations of neck pillows when flying. The dual challenges of more long-haul flights and continued demise and shrinkage of airline seat pitch and legroom have contributed to worsening conditions for the human body to endure. The traditional legacy padded horseshoe design neck pillow products became less relevant and useful as seatback pitch angles either shrunk in size or had the recline feature removed completely. This type of pillow requires a substantial amount of seat back pitch or they can make things worse by pushing and bending the neck forward and inducing bobble head.Move over legacy design neck pillow products, there’s a new sheriff in town! The present product under review is the perfect antidote for shrinking or disappearing economy class seatback pitch angles, gently hugging the front of the forehead and eyes and restraining the head from falling forward.Kudos to the entire product design and development team as they seem to have made a design breakthrough by combining travel pillow and eye mask features with this product. The U.S. patent office seems to sense a design breakthrough also as they have granted a coveted patent to the product. The next step after design is execution, and here again, this product excels. Comfort and support are evident from start to finish. Generous padding is evident throughout. Sewing, seams, joints and construction materials all seem first-rate. All of the Velcro closure areas are large in size to allow maximum flexibility for the greatest number of body shapes and sizes. The final step is implementation, and unfortunately, problems can occur at this stage. The first wild card is airline seat headrest type as the specific design of this pillow will not work universally with all airline seating types, even within the economy/coach class seats that they were specifically targeted toward (no travel pillow can possibly compete with a lie flat biz class sleeper seat!).The next potential roadblock is body size. Since no airline seats have height adjustable backrests and headrests, passengers who might be in shorter or taller size cohorts may find that the present product does not fasten properly or comfortably to the seat headrest. This reviewer has lived with MS for 28 years and numerous MRIs have noted neck wear and tear more commonly observed in crash test dummies, with neck sensitivity and pain thresholds reduced accordingly. Proper neck support when flying is therefore of paramount importance. This reviewer has tried at least 6 different types of neck pillow types over the years. Some have cost more than three times as much as the current coupon discount price point of the present product. None have received an overall passing grade.Giving this promising new product a thorough evaluation on the first forthcoming flight opportunity is eagerly anticipated. Until proven otherwise, a perfect score is therefore thoroughly justified. Conclusion: The SARISUN brand travel pillow for airplanes with upgraded neck support is the latest design among the dozens of competing products in the crowded travel neck pillow marketplace. An overall product score of 5/5 is assigned accordingly.
