On an airplane one of the problems is that you don't really have room to lean without disturbing the person next to you. So the idea behind this sleep mask is that you can attach it to the headrest and then sort of lean into the mask itself without actually moving to either side. In practice, I found it surprisingly effective at making a comfortable resting position out of such a limited space. The head band, eye mask, and chin strap are all made out of a soft synthetic material that's padded with a kind of gel that gives it a somewhat cooling feel. The mask has a contour of gel that surrounds the eyes and is pretty effective at blocking out all the light.
