This travel pillow was a bit confusing the way it came packaged, but now that I figured it out, it's actually pretty nice. The eye mask needs removed before installing. The side with the tag faces the headrest; it appeared it was the other way around with the way it came. Follow the instructions on the tag or box for how to secure it to the headrest. In the car, the band crisscross behind the headrest; I initially connected one to each side (before reading the tag) and one side came off after a few minutes. This should stay in place now.Once the pillow portion is secured to the headrest, put your head in place, pull one side of the pillow around the side of your face, and attach one side of the eye mask. Then pull the other side of the pillow around, pull the eye mask across your face, and attach it to the other side of the pillow. At first I had the eye mask a little loose. It was okay, but I found out that I like it attached tighter/more firmly. It keeps my head from moving at all. I haven't been on an actual trip and had a chance to try to sleep with it, but it feels like it will keep my head in place and be comfortable. I always find it difficult to sleep sitting up when traveling because my head wants to move around. I'm looking forward to trying sleeping during my next trip in March. Both the pillow and eye mask have lots of padding, so it is comfortable. The eye mask is big and blocks out all the light, day or night. The eye mask is what holds your head in place, so this is solely for sleeping since your eyes will be covered whenever you use it.
